HCHS Habitat's primary mission is to raise money to build and construct homes for deserving families. Habitat fundraises year-round for local, national, and
international Habitat affiliates. The club ends the year with a house sponsorship and summer building trip to West Virginia. Habitat is open to students of all grades who are interested in raising awareness about the need for safe and affordable housing.
With over 200 active members this past year, Habitat for Humanity is one of Hinsdale
Central’s largest student organizations. Our mission is quite simple. According to the United Nations over 25% of the world’s population live in poverty and lack access to decent, affordable housing (that’s about 2 billion people). Unfortunately, one does
not have to travel very far to see this problem first hand. In the U.S., about 95 million people, one third of the nation, have housing problems. Almost 16 million Americans pay 50% or more of their income for housing.
Members of Hinsdale Central Habitat commit themselves to helping address these problems here in the Chicago area as well as throughout the world in three main
ways: educating, fundraising, and building.
